'Enterprise Risk Management' seminar successful

Organisers of the Bahrain Insurance Association (BIA) two-day seminar on 'Enterprise Risk Management and Corporate Governance: Present Challenges and the Financial Crisis' announced a successful outcome to the highly informative and timely event which concluded yesterday, at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Manama.

The seminar, which was held in association with the General Arab Insurance Federation (GAIF), and under the patronage of the Central Bank of Bahrain, aimed to facilitate the exchange of information and ideas, in light of global economic conditions, and to provide an optimal networking platform.

Commenting on the seminar's successful conclusion, BIA Chairman, Mr. Ashraf Bseisu remarked, "The feedback on the seminar was very positive as the selection and quality of topics and speakers addressed in a deliberated manner the current live issues and concerns faced by many financial services and insurance companies. It provided the delegates with a strong basis and understanding of the necessity to have an effective Corporate Governance and Enterprise Risk Management framework in their organizations."

Approximately 150 participants attended the seminar on 'Enterprise Risk Management & Corporate Governance: Present Challenges & the Financial Crisis' representing mid to top-level management in the regional financial sector, insurance and re-insurance sectors.

Bahrain Kuwait Insurance Company (BKIC) was the Bronze sponsor. Lunch was sponsored by Bahrain National Holding (BNH).

About The Bahrain Insurance Association:
The Bahrain Insurance Association received its charter in 1993 and became operational as a Society in 1994, under the umbrella of the Ministry of Social Affairs. Currently, it is in the process of amending its Articles of Association and incorporating under the Central Bank of Bahrain. At present, there are 40 members comprising local insurance companies, foreign insurance companies, reinsurance, brokers and service providers.
