Global Village commences retailers' registration for 2009-2010 season

Global Village, a member of Tatweer and the region's premier cultural, entertainment and shopping destination, today announced the 14th edition of the annual seasonal event will open on 22 November, 2009.

Starting 10 May, Global Village is accepting applications for the country and regional pavilions, restaurants, kiosks and retail outlets. Registration for pavilions will close on 30 June, while the registration for kiosks and restaurants at the Global Village will close on 31 August.

In its earlier editions, Global Village has successfully hosted pavilions representing more than 40 countries. In the forthcoming event, Global Village plans to attract interest and participation from a variety of new countries and regions including Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, South Africa, Malaysia, Japan, Australia, Canada, Italy, France, Germany, Poland, Scandinavia and Spain.

Global Village

Global Village, a member of Tatweer, is Dubai's exciting and unique annual tourism destination and spectacular multicultural entertainment centre. Launched in 1996, Global Village made its debut on the Creekside opposite Dubai Municipality. It later moved to the Oud Metha area and then on to Dubai Festival City, until it found a permanent home in 2005 at Dubailand, the region's largest tourism, entertainment, leisure and lifestyle complex.
From hosting 18 country pavilions in 1997, Global Village saw the participation of nearly 40 countries in 2006-2007. The number of visitors grew from 500,000 in 1996 to nearly 4.2m in 2006-2007. In 2006-2007, tourists from over 160 different countries enjoyed the Global Village fiesta.
