Many new contracts were signed and finalized. New hotel projects were announced, new brands were launched, and positive signs of the recovering economy were seen. Positive sentiments were echoed by a host of Middle Eastern industry decision makers.

With more than 2,100 exhibitors and stand-sharers, from 69 countries, including 70 new-to-market representatives, the show saw steady overall space uptake by nearly 60 national tourist bodies representing six continents, including debutants from the Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, Romania and Nigeria, as well as first-time representation from the Ecuadorian, Slovenian and San Marino private sectors.

Hozpitality.com, Gulf's first dedicated hospitality and hotels jobs, career, and networking website company based in Dubai participated at the ATM (Arabian Travel Market) with DTCM (Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, Govt. of Dubai) from 5th till 8th May 2009.

"We met many of the hoteliers and travel groups, and felt that it was only fear of the current economic times which is making most of them careful in their recruitment and HR strategies. We have to wait till after Ramadan when the hotels will start recruiting again," Mr. Raj Bhatt, Director, Hozpitality.com said.

"Recruitments are still happening, but companies are a bit cautious of the current times. Business is anyways low during summers in Dubai, it is just a matter to sustain the coming few months and things will change back to normal. We signed a number of new contracts for Hozpitality.com and online recruitment is being seen as the most cost effective method of recruiting, in the current scenario,"

Mr. Bhatt explained.

"The advertisements for job vacancies are listed globally and can be applied for, by any one and anywhere around the globe. There are filters to screen unimportant CV's not matching the specifications. The vacancies stay online for a long period, normally 30-45 days. The company also gets benefit of advertisements globally and most importantly the costs are very minimal and the returns are much higher," Mr. Bhatt added.
