General Colin Powell keynote speaker at AUD'S Twelfth Commencement Exercises

Under the Patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the American University in Dubai (AUD) is holding its Twelfth Commencement Exercises on Wednesday, May 13, at 5:30p.m., in the Sheikh Rashid Hall of the Dubai International World Trade Center.

This year, AUD has the pleasure of welcoming as keynote speaker General Colin L. Powell, 65th U.S. Secretary of State.

During his military career, Powell also served as National Security Advisor (1987-1989), as Commander-in-Chief, U.S. Army Forces Command (1989) and as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (1989-1993), holding the latter position during the Gulf War. Powell is renowned for his devotion to tackling the global and regional security challenges of the 21st century.

An audience of more than 4,500, including several dignitaries and other prominent members of the local UAE community, are expected to attend the Ceremony at which more than 400 undergraduate and graduate students from nearly 50 different nationalities will receive their American-accredited degrees in the fields of Business Administration, Engineering, Visual Communication, Information Technology and Interior Design.
