Diyar Al Muharraq hosts Urban Land Institute

The meeting was headed by Mr. Aaref Hejres, CEO of Diyar Al Muharraq, ULI's EMEA President Mr. Bill Kistler and MENA Executive Director Mr. Shahswar Al Balushi.

The meeting agenda involved several topics, including presenting ULI's mission, objectives, non-profit activities, school and university educational programs, training programs for CEO's and top decision makers, as well as relevant events which will be held in the Middle East region.

Attendees also discussed an initiative by Diyar Al Muharraq to establish a dedicated Bahraini society for developers which will provide a unified platform for the exchange of ideas and expertise in the field of real estate development and land use between leading industry organizations and policy makers.

Mr. Aaref Hejres, CEO of Diyar Al Muharraq commented:

"Putting social and environmental responsibility above everything else is one of the key determining factors to the success of any large-scale urban development project due to the profound impact such project have on societies. As such, we are very keen on coordinating with top officials from Urban Land Institute and real estate projects so we work together towards the betterment of the life for all Bahrainis and the Kingdom as a whole."

Attendees were also introduced to some of ULI's other activities, which include conducting in depth studies on land use trends and possible challenges they may present, and then innovating solutions to overcome them. ULI also organizes an annual international award which is given to people whose efforts or organizations they represent demonstrate the best practices in sustainable development. Also under discussion were plans to establish a local ULI council in Bahrain.

Diyar Al Muharraq and ULI plan on holding several similar visits to a number of Bahrain's leading developers from the private and public sectors over the next few weeks to introduce the institute to them and raise awareness about its programs and activities.

In addition, Diyar Al Muharraq intends to financially support the distribution of all ULI's printed materials, including books, products, and research papers to a number of Bahrain's universities, as well as supporting the institute's various educational and awareness activities in the Kingdom aimed at both the private and public sectors.

With 30,000 properties planned housing for over 120,000 people, Diyar Al Muharraq will offer a range of freehold properties accessible to buyers across various income levels, and its extensive and varied indoor and outdoor leisure, commercial and retail facilities underpinned by world-class infrastructure.
