Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at Nile Plaza launches 'Food and Art' promotion

In keeping with its contemporary, innovative theme, Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at Nile Plaza has formulated a novel idea at Aqua restaurant called 'Food and Art', which marries the richness of its art collection with the culinary creativity of Executive Chef, Christophe Gillino.

Four Seasons' devotion to the celebration of local art and culture is aptly demonstrated by the selection of key Egyptian artists represented in the art collection, permanently on display within prominent areas of the Hotel.

The eye-catching collection complements the stylish modernity that is the Hotel's hallmark, and openly promotes the splendour of contemporary Egyptian art to those who may never have been exposed to it before.

Chef Christophe will choose some of the famous paintings from the Hotel's collection and will interpret these in the context of a meal. The conceptual nature of the work will allow the culinary team to be equally abstract with their interpretation, although a comparison between the painting and the final dish clearly reveals their inspiration.

Chef Christophe admits he would like to use artists' tools such as brushes, spoons, and spatulas to shape his creations in the future. However, even given the fact that his final dish is a work of art in itself, he does not consider himself to be an artist; rather, he is still the Hotel's Executive Chef, dedicated to crafting unforgettable dishes for the pleasure of its guests.

Unlike an artist, who expresses a personal point of view or opinion through their work, Chef Christophe's own objective is to meet the expectations of the guests, and to exceed them by personalising a dish if necessary, to make the dining experience all the more enjoyable.

"Cooking is creative," he says, "And art is artistic. Art is eternal and it lasts while a dish lasts a few minutes and then becomes a memory. It's a fleeting moment."
