Al Jazeera English has seen extensive growth in Africa in 2009, with a number of deals taking it into millions of new homes across the continent.
The first half of the year has seen the channel launch on Gambia Radio & Television; Sierra Leone's ABC TV Africa;.Nigeria's MyTV, HiTV and Infinity TV; Ghana's Metro TV, TV3, SKYY, WICE Net and Multi TV; Kenya's Citizen TV, Zuku (MitsumiNet) and Freeview; The Namibia Broadcasting Corporation; South Africa's Soweto TV and Cape Town TV; The Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation and Malawi TV.
The new Al Jazeera Mobile services give thousands of new subscribers access to the Network's award-winning news coverage and continues Al Jazeera's initiative to employ a variety of technologies to distribute its unique content. Mobile users are now able to choose from Al Jazeera Mobile's Politics, Sports, Economics and Breaking News services for key updates straight to their mobile phones or PDAs.
