The event was a success, with over 250 attendees welcomed by Mr. Oussama El Omari, CEO of RAK FTZ. The first Business Breakfast was organised by the free zone to enable clients to network with each other and the RAK FTZ management.

RAK FTZ also invited guest speakers to map out practical solutions for clients and answer their questions on subjects such as tax law and customs procedures.

Mr. Mohammad Dahmash, partner of Ernst & Young Middle East, discussed the opportunities for companies in the current economic crisis, and how they can take advantage of it.

Mr. Jasim Mohamed Al Ajmi from the Government of Ras Al Khaimah Customs and Ports Department spoke about the services, rules and regulations in the department to help free zone clients gain a better understanding of the processes involved.

Feedback from the forum was very positive. "It was great seeing all the companies gathered in one place, I enjoyed it very much," commented one of the guests. Another guest said that the Ernst & Young presentation provided "Excellent business information about the present scenario."

"We are here for our clients," says Mr. El Omari, after the Business Breakfast. "Their needs are our first concern. If there are aspects of the business that they require help with, then we will do our best to respond to those needs."

"RAK FTZ has strategies in place to assist our clients during this economic slowdown, in order for them to proceed with their business without any interruptions. We are also in the process of rolling out a list of incentives for our clients to help them compete in this market. RAK FTZ also encourages free zone clients to use the services of companies within the zone instead of looking outside,"

adds El Omari.

RAK FTZ plans to conduct similar events in the future to promote networking between clients. At the end of the event a survey was also conducted to get feedback on the topics the clients would like to see more during these events.
