The Abu Dhabi Day match will be the highlight of Etihad's second season as official airline of Chelsea which has seen the UAE's national airline host the Middle East edition of the Chelsea Soccer Schools in the capital at Zayed Sports City.
Peter Baumgartner, Etihad Airways' chief commercial officer, said:
"Abu Dhabi day will be a fantastic occasion for Etihad to showcase Abu Dhabi as an exciting destination and its unique Arabian hospitality. We are thrilled to offer fans from around the world the chance to join us and experience the excitement of watching a match at Chelsea's famous Stamford Bridge stadium."
To mark Abu Dhabi Day, Etihad Airways and Shangri-La Qaryat Al Beri launched a competition on Radio 2 in the UAE to give youngsters in the UAE the opportunity of being the Abu Dhabi Day match mascot.
The lucky winner is eight year old Thomas Campbell, who will be flown to London to watch the match. He will also be given a tour of the stadium and be the first ever mascot in Premier League history to walk the match ball out at half time to begin the second half of the match alongside former Chelsea captain, Dennis Wise.
Additional interest in Etihad's Chelsea competition is expected as the English Premier League season enters the final stage with the west London team currently third in the table. With only one match remaining following this game they are looking to secure a top two position.
Among the activities taking place on Abu Dhabi day will be Arabian-themed cuisine at the stadium, Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix car on display and extensive Abu Dhabi promotional material and branding across the stadium and in the match day programme.
