Most of the beneficiaries have commended the vital role played by the Tecom initiative in tackling near as well as long-term challenges to their organizations. An initiative by Tecom Partner Development, the Business Sustainability and Support Centre was formed to support the growth of companies based in any of the Tecom Investments entities.

Mohammad Abdullah, Executive Director, Dubai Media City, who is leading the initiative, said:

"The Business Sustainability and Support Centre initiative demonstrates our commitment to be a real partner to businesses based at Tecom. This service is aimed at enabling companies to surmount the most challenging issues during tough market conditions. The response we have received from our business partners to the initial round of consultancy sessions has so far been very encouraging."

Tecom-registered companies including Al Tamimi & Company, Biz-Ability FZ LLC, CORE, Deloitte, Flagship Project Marketing, Monitor Group Ltd, Omnia, Oliver Wymen, Starcom Mediavest Group, The Core Group, Therightslawyers and Value Partners, are offering strategic advice in finance, marketing, legal affairs and human resources, as well as strategy and operations to business partners.

While the consultancy sessions in finance focus on how companies can better utilise their financial position during the downturn, the sessions on marketing assist business partners to increase the efficiency of their marketing budget for better positioning their brand.

Robin Butteriss, Director, Transaction Services - MENA Region, Deloitte Corporate Finance LLC., said: "The BSSC initiative provides TECOM business partners access to a diverse group of experienced advisors providing strategic guidance on how best to weather the current economic cycle. To date, we have met with a significant number of Business Partners focusing on managing their finances. These discussions have ranged from near term considerations such as cost control and working capital financing options, to longer term matters such as sustainable growth and fund raising/ exit strategies."

Declan McCluskey, General Manager, Biz-Ability, said: "The initiative undertaken by Tecom Investments marks a positive step in supporting their business partners during challenging times. During the sessions so far, I have met companies operating in various areas that face a diverse range of issues. The feedback has been extremely positive as each of them has received detailed consultancy, with many of them amazed that we have allocated this time at no extra cost. We consider this a great way for us to support the companies across Tecom clusters, and encourage more companies to take advantage of this outstanding opportunity."

Some of the sessions offered by the Business Sustainability and Support Centre also extend to maximizing human resource capabilities, while offering valuable tips on strategy and operations for ensuring enhanced productivity. The centre additionally extends legal consultancy on issues such as selling company stakes, dealing with pending or outstanding payments, and employee disputes.

Through implementing a series of initiatives that address the contemporary needs of businesses, the Tecom Partner Development aims to serve as a platform for helping increase the visibility and interactions of companies based within Tecom Investments, and extend niche facilities to the business community of the UAE.

Tecom Investments and its entities offer several programmes that facilitate businesses to focus on expansion. These include SME Builder that is held every quarter and attracts small and medium businesses located inside and outside the Tecom free zones.

Tecom Investments, one of the leading business park operators in the world, has continuously innovated new concepts, contributing to the development of knowledge sectors and its business partners through various industry clusters.
