Graduation ceremony for inspectors participating in Customs Criminal Investigation Training course

Dubai Customs has celebrated on Thursday May 14th 2009 the graduation of the second batch of inspectors participating in "Customs Criminal Investigation Training" course with the participation of UK Customs investigation experts.

The graduation ceremony took place at Sofitel City Center Hotel.

Human Resources Division at Dubai Customs granted graduation certificates to more than 14 participating inspectors from Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Fujairah Customs. Certificates of appreciation as well as memorial gifts were also given to experts participating in the course.

Mr.Khalifa Abu Jamhour, Senior Manager of Human Resources Division at Dubai Customs has celebrated the graduation of the first batch of the 16 participating inspectors on April 30th 2009. The course, which was organized by Dubai Customs in cooperation with the UK consulate in Dubai, was divided into two sessions, each lasting for two weeks.

Abou Jamhour added that those courses come as part of the methods used for inspectors' performance and capabilities development. They also aim at equipping them with new skills related to Customs criminal investigation procedures especially that the lecturers are Customs investigation's experts from the English Customs renowned for its competency and excellence.

The "Customs Criminal Investigation Training" course contains a theoretical aspect to all that is related to the inspector's comments notebook, dealing with critical information, controlling properties, proving and maintaining evidence, research methods, buildings inspection, inspection planning, files that need to be prepared at the time of inspection, operational planning through the identification and achievement of purposes and goals.

The course also includes investigation methods, its identification, the reasons behind it, its preparation, the different type of investigation questions, how to control from a static location, the essence of control points, their purposes and locations, what the inspector needs while staying at the control point, on foot reconnaissance, its purpose and stages, how to remain undercover, the different obstacles faced by the inspector during reconnaissance, as well as preparing and starting the investigation.

Apart from the theoretical side, the course also covers a practical side related to the simulation of all the theoretical methods in Customs criminal investigation through exchanging roles and impersonating a suspected passenger and a Customs inspector which gives the theoretical side a practical dimension closer to reality.
