This is what non-profit organisation Foresight is hoping for with their unique annual dining event. Hotels in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Fujairah, Ras al Khaimah and Al Ain have generously donated the proceeds of a table of 4 or more for brunch in their most popular restaurants to support this charitable initiative.

People book their tables for brunch online through www.brunchforesight.com and every dirham raised goes to Foresight to help fight blindness and support people in the UAE who losing their sight.

"At this time of year, brunch is very popular with a lot of people getting together with their friends and family before the quieter summer months. In these credit crunch times it's a nice way to enjoy a delicious meal with friends and benefit a really good cause at the same time,"

said Sophie Shellim of Foresight.

A wide selection of restaurants are supporting this event to help fight blindness. They range from Arabesque at the Arjaan Rotana and others in the Rotana Group, Blue Orange at the Westin Mina Seyahi, and many restaurants in Wafi, to the famous Glasshouse Brasserie at the Hilton Creek Dubai.

Some have even donated access to the beach for the day, including the Neptunia at the Hilton Fujairah Resort and Oceana at the Jebel Ali Golf Resort and Spa. If this isn't in your budget you can order a coffee, cake and sandwich from Costa Coffee online with the proceeds going to Foresight.

If you prefer to entertain at home, Foresight has a Brunch at Home kit full of hints and tips for hosting your own brunch - available from www.brunchforesight.com. Foresight supplies a bandana for each diner so that they can try eating for a short time without the use of sight - it's quite an experience and a fun way to emphasise a serious point.

"With blindness considered to be the biggest cause of disability in the U.A.E., we try to give people enjoyable ways to help support our important work," said Katy Newitt, Chairwoman, Foresight, who is visually impaired.

"We need all the help we can get so appeal to everyone in the Emirates to think about having Brunch foreSight on Friday 12th June.

About Foresight
Until recently untreatable, new progress in research means that cures for hereditary retinal diseases will be found. Our aim is to accelerate finding cures for retinal diseases such as Retinitis Pigmentosa. For some forms of retinal disease a cure will be found within 10 years and it is likely that children will be the first to benefit.

We also aim to improve the lives of people who are visually impaired and blind in the U.A.E. and run support groups for people with sight loss and mobility training with white sticks.

Foresight is a U.A.E-based non-profit organisation and a branch of Tamkeen. We are recognised and advised by Retina International (which coordinates major retinal research internationally), Moorfields Eye Hospital in London and Dubai, the Emirates Medical Association and the Emirates Association for the Blind.

Tamkeen (the Arabic word for enabling) is a non-profit organisation, initiated by HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum for the training of visually impaired citizens of working age. This unique training centre provides professional training courses that aren't found anywhere else in the U.A.E. All courses including transport are free of charge.

Tamkeen's objective is to empower vision impaired U.A.E nationals and residents with practical, vocational skills to enable them to enter the modern workplace to become economic and socially independent citizens.
