Daman's third annual regional conference addresses several health related issues in region

Daman's Chairman, Mr. Khaled Abdulla Al Qubaisi and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Michael Bitzer, inaugurated the two-day conference that will explore ways to further advance the regional healthcare sector as well as discuss the opportunities and challenges posed by the current changes.

Commenting on the conference, Dr. Michael Bitzer, Chief Executive Officer of Daman, said, "Since its inception, Daman has taken on initiatives to further enhance the healthcare system in Abu Dhabi, the UAE and the Region; this convention will highlight a number of issues to keep practitioners in the loop with developments and means to overcome current challenges."

Dr. Moataz Borham, CEO of Arab Contractors Medical Center and Chairman of Egycare Company, Egypt, held a lecture on the impact of the global financial crisis on the healthcare sector.

Dr. Borham's lecture highlighted the problems of the global medically uninsured population, the impact of the crises on both, low-income and high-income countries and its consequent effect on the private health insurance market followed by recommended actions to face the global crisis.

Dr. Peter Bauer, Senior consultant at Managed Care - Divisional Unit Healthcare, Munich, Germany, spoke during a workshop in the afternoon session about advanced processes and IT concepts for managed care and disease management.

He elaborated on the major challenges for a technical platform for disease management and prevention programs as well as modern technologies embedded in enhanced health care environments.

More than 900 delegates representing the region's largest healthcare facilities and leading insurance companies attended the first day of the Conference to share their respective knowledge and expertise in an ideal platform aimed at developing the industry across the Arab world.
