Grandweld delivers new 41m crewboats to Stanford Marine

The delivery of these 41m crewboats represent a strengthening in the relationship between the two companies.

This is demonstrated by the number of vessels in the order and also that this is a repeat build of their sister vessel, Stanford Swan.

The vessel carries 45 tonnes of deck cargo and has a maximum speed of 24knots. The design was carried out by the Grandweld Engineering Department using Autoship and ShipConstructor software to ensure optimal performance. This involved a complete 3D computer model being made for hull, structural and machinery systems. "Walk-throughs" in the accommodation and engine room spaces were done in the software prior to construction to achieve an efficient layout and to fully visualize the interior of the vessel.

The delivery of first vessel in the six vessel order closely follows on the January order by CGGVeritas of a new aluminium vessel and the continued construction of vessels for local operator Sharaf Shipping and French company Bourbon.

Mr. Abki said, "The requirement for new aluminium vessels is very strong due to the large capacity of the market and the lack of available vessels. This enables us to continue to build on our shipyard's strengths, and is reflected by our client's need to expand their fleets."

From its Dubai-based Al Jadaf shipyard, Grandweld has built a strong reputation for delivering offshore vessels with high quality, on budget and on time. The new vessel "Stanford Puma" is to be followed by one vessel every month for the remaining five Stanford vessels.
