Wahooo! waterpark launches a competition for children

Bahrain City Centre's Wahooo! waterpark, the biggest splash in Middle East attractions, is holding a kids competition to find a name for its surf lovin', fun lovin' mascot.

The coolest young turtle in town has everything he needs to settle in at Wahooo! - apart from a name.

The competition is open to kids between 6 - 16 years of age, who can win a Wahooo! family pass if 'the dude' chooses their suggestion. The second and third prize winners will win individual tickets and exciting Wahooo! goodie bags respectively.

Wahooo!'s General Manager, Damien Latham, says the laidback mascot is perfect for the park. "He's great fun and as a turtle, he loves the water as much as the land, like all the visitors that will come to Wahooo! He's going to be a real treat for our guests, it's just a case of what to call him now! I know we'll get some fantastic names though, so he won't have long to wait."

As well as a cool attitude, a turtle was chosen as the mascot for the highly anticipated waterpark to highlight the dwindling numbers of the species in Middle East waters, particularly in Bahrain.

"We wanted to bring awareness to the National Sea Turtle Protection Committee, Bahrain's campaign to help the number of turtles from falling even further,"

said Mr. Latham.

The dude with no name (at the moment) will be making himself at home on the incredible mix of slides, chutes and rising rapids in the largest temperature-controlled waterpark in the region. Among the many aqua-attractions is the exciting 'Flowrider', one of the world's largest full size surfing machines, a 190 metre 'Masterblaster Rollercoaster' and a four-lane 'Matt Racer' that loops around the outer edge of the 15,000 square metre waterpark.

Wahooo! waterpark is owned by MAF Leisure, the team that brought the wonder of snow to Dubai, and will open its doors this summer.

The competition runs until 28 June, 2009, so if you're aged between 6 and 16 years old, help us find a funky name for the most radical reptile around! Please make mail your replies to P.O. Box 3270, Manama, or email it at info@wahooo.com.bh .
