Orbis Foods launches Barry's Tea in UAE

Orbis Foods, the food manufacturer and distributer, announced that Barry's Tea is now available in the UAE to everyday shoppers.

Ireland's favourite tea which has 39% of market share at home has been snapped up by food Orbis Foods.

Justin Clarke, CEO of the Company, commented:
"We are delighted to be adding further to our range which already includes our fresh roasted coffee from the Orbis Roastery, nuts and loose teas."


Barry's Tea has a loyal following by many expat nationalities and until recently has been imported by the suitcase as Irish nationals have been returning from family visits to Ireland.

The Barry's Tea range includes Gold Blend, Classic Blend, Irish Breakfast and Decaf.

The tea is now available at selected Spinneys, Waitrose and the Duty Free shops in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Background:

The company was founded in 1901 by James J. Barry, grandfather of Peter Barry. From the outset, the company specialised in high quality tea and in 1934, Anthony Barry - father of Peter Barry - was awarded the Empire Cup for tea blending.

Until the 1960's, Barry's Tea was sold mainly from a Cork City shop in Prince's Street, but because of its increasing popularity with the tea-drinkers in the locality, it was decided to widen the wholesaling and distribution of the brand. The company began selling tea to shops in Cork City Centre, expanding into the suburbs and then out to the rest of the country.

At the same time, Barry's Tea tasters began to sample exciting new teas coming from East Africa. When these new teas were introduced to the Barry's Tea blends, it became more apparent to our customers that the qualities of freshness, flavour and distinctive colour were very much unique to Barry's Tea.

Barry's Tea is now distributed in 19 countries worldwide.
