- PRESS RELEASE
GITEX 2000 was a landmark business event that celebrated the opening of Dubai Internet City, the 20th anniversary of GITEX, Microsoft's own 25 year anniversary and the launch of Microsoft .NET in the Middle East region.
"His Highness Sheikh Mohammed's Internet initiatives have provided the exhibition with even greater focus this year and the response that Microsoft has had to its e-government and e-commerce programmes at GITEX has been phenomenal. Microsoft flew e-government specialists into Dubai to meet with governments from around the region and they were impressed with the progress already made by regional governments towards e-government."
Bahram Mohazzebi, general manager, Microsoft Gulf and Eastern Mediterranean (GEM).
