  • United Arab Emirates: Monday, May 25 - 2009 at 13:45
  • PRESS RELEASE

A Healthcare Expansion Congress to be held in the capital this week is expected to reinforce statistics released by Royal Jet recently, that show a steady increase in demand for aero-medical evacuations and services.

Royal Jet Medical Evacuation Services, the international aero medical evacuation and repatriation services division of Royal Jet, is a sponsor of and participant in, the two-day event at Al Raha Beach Hotel on 26 and 27 May.

The congress will be attended by amongst others healthcare ministries and authorities from the region, as well as top healthcare decision makers. An expansive agenda will provide a global platform for discussion about the current innovations and the changing healthcare environment in the MENA region.

Launched in May 2003 under the leadership of HE Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Chairman of Royal Jet, Royal Med has seen a 40 per cent increase in successful missions over the past year. Medical evacuation flights have surpassed the 1000 mark underpinning the company's position the most successful such operator in the region.

Emergency Medical Evacuation Aircraft (Medevac) is the safest and most reliable method of transporting people needing immediate medical attention or specialised care overseas. Demand for this service is forecast to rise, even though there continues to be huge investment in healthcare infrastructure and services across the Arab world.

Royal Jet's, Vice President of Commercial - John Morgan explains:
"The demand for Medevac is continuing to rise, as the Middle East's first licensed, commercial Medevac provider we are the preferred supplier for armed forces, health authorities and medical insurance companies," he says. "We continue to invest in staff and equipment so as to better serve every patients need and our presence at the congress will provide an important platform on which the company's Medevac services - particularly its highly trained medical team and state of the art equipment - can be showcased."

At its headquarters in Abu Dhabi, Royal Jet Medical Evacuation Services team consists of 15 paramedics and intensive care nurses, as well as 10 doctors and consultants who specialise in neo-natal, paediatric and adult clinical disciplines. All the aircraft used for Medevac can equipped with intensive care facilities for a range of specialised needs, ventilators, electrocardiograms and neo-natal transport incubators.

Royal Med's expertise extends across neo-natal, paediatric and adult clinical disciplines and the company already serves destinations as far afield as Europe, Asia, the Indian subcontinent, the US and other destinations within the Middle East.
