The three-day fair, which runs till May 27, 2009, is the first of its kind in the UAE and provides a rare opportunity for visitors to purchase law books that were written as far back as 1919. All the books at the fair - 3,000 books under 1,500 titles - have been donated by Dubai Courts staff, and the entire proceeds from this book fair will be donated to the Beit Al Khair Society, a Dubai-based charitable organisation. Dubai Courts also revealed that all visitors who purchase books during the fair will qualify for a daily draw which will give them an opportunity to win attractive prizes.
Commenting on this initiative, Dr. Bin Hazeem highlighted Dubai Courts' efforts to continuously support various social and charitable initiatives that aim to build an integrated society based on equality, which goes in line with the Dubai Strategic Plan 2015.
Fatima Al Jalaf, Head of Library Section at Dubai Courts, said:
"The fair aims to disseminate legal knowledge by making these valuable books on law available to the public at affordable prices. Moreover, the fair also features a section where books on UAE's history and culture are displayed, with an aim to help visitors gain a deeper understanding of the country's culture and traditions."
Ever since its formation, Dubai Courts has focused on launching various initiatives that aim to develop the judicial system. Furthermore, Dubai Courts has adopted a strategy of using latest technologies and recruiting highly qualified legal specialists, in addition to adopting the highest standards while implementing various legal procedures in accordance with the goals of Dubai Strategic Plan 2015.
