This year, students from Australia Germany, India, Italy, Portugal, Russia, South Africa, Spain, USA, UK, and UAE worked in 8 international teams using electronic communication to create a strategic plan for the Abu Dhabi Music and Arts Foundation.
The winning team will be honored at a gala dinner on Tuesday, May 26 by Her Excellency Hoda Ibrahim Al Khamis Kanoo, Founder Abu Dhabi Music and Arts Foundation, Dr. Volker Stoltz, President of the Global Communication Project, Dr. Marilyn Roberts Dean of the College of Communication and Media Sciences, and Mazen Nahawi, Managing Director of MediaWatch ME.
Dr. Sulaiman Al Jassim, Vice President of Zayed University, stressed the importance of the conference as it hosts local, international experts, professors and guests discussing the most up-to-date research and practices in international public relations, and the role of social media and networking in the public relations sector.
He added:
I am confident that their remarks and findings will resonate and continue to provide guidance to the students participating in this year's conference throughout their undergraduate years. And to the student teams participating, I am sure that many - if not all of you - have benefited a lot from this experience through interacting with students from other countries, gaining academic and personal knowledge in leadership, team working and strategic planning."
Local and international experts who participated in the conference and discussed the role of Social Media in Public Relations include David Phillips - Head of Digital, Publicasity - London; Reuven Proenca - Regional Lead New & Emerging Media - Weber Shandwick Mena - Dubai; and Steve Vaile - Founder & CEO - H2O New Media - Dubai. They highlighted the latest developments and most up-to-date research and practices in international public relations.
Keynote speakers also included Ed Borgerding, CEO of Abu Dhabi Media Company, who discussed the topic "Towards New Media" and Mazen Nahawi, Managing Director, MediaWatch, who talked about "Measuring Public Relations".
