Schneider Electric sets up international team to manage Borouge turnkey project
- United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, May 27 - 2009 at 11:49
- PRESS RELEASE
Schneider Electric has developed a unique procedure to manage complex Oil and Gas turnkey projects, in a multicultural environment.
Borouge, the end user of this new ethane cracker and polyolefin complex, is based in Abu Dhabi, while the Front End Engineering is done in UK by Forster Wheeler. The project is divided in four different processes, managed by different contractors (EPCs) in four different countries: Linde in Germany, Tecnicas Reunidas in Spain, Tecnimont in Italy and Samsung in Korea.
Borouge and the consultant specified a competitive and technically homogeneous solution between all EPCs.
"Schneider Electric set up an international project team with dedicated people in each country involved to support the end user, the consultant and the contractors. With the support of each of them, we managed to gather our strengths and helped them to make the most of their energies, providing a consistent solution answering our customers' technical specifications," says Patrick Albos, Senior Vice President, Oil and Gas, Schneider Electric.
The overall energy management solution included power management and secured power from the different countries:
- The medium voltage (MV) order of MCSet for the ethane cracker, was the responsibility of contractor Linde in Germany, direct?? from Schneider Electric Turkey and with the coordination of Schneider Electric Project and Engineering Centre in France;
- Medium Voltage (MV) MCSet order and Low Voltage MBI order for the polypropylene and polyethylene plants, with the contractor Tecnimont in Italy, in an offer coordinated by the Consultation Centre of Schneider Electric Italy.
- From its GUTOR team in Switzerland, Schneider Electric got the Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) package in Tecnicas Reunidas and Tecnimont to secure the power for the utilities and off sites.
"By acting as one unique team for this project we could offer the same solution for all EPCs and differentiate ourselves by a transparent communication and quick answers, adding value to the customer for this complex project," concludes Patrick Albos.
