Boeing supports Injaz al-Arab education projects in Egypt
- Egypt: Wednesday, May 27 - 2009 at 15:10
- PRESS RELEASE
The Boeing Company has awarded several grants to Injaz al-Arab to support a series of educational initiatives in the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Egypt, Oman and Palestinian Territories.
The funds will be used to support Injaz al-Arab entrepreneurial classes in the UAE and educational programs in schools in Jordan and Palestine and to support training career counselors in Oman and printing educational material in Egypt.
"Our work with Injaz al-Arab is part of Boeing's global commitment to facilitate positive change in communities around the world, with education being a priority investment," said Paul Kinscherff, president of Boeing Middle East. "Over the years, Injaz al-Arab has made a significant impact across the region and has done a commendable job in providing a focused learning environment for the students. We are privileged to support their efforts."
"By working with Boeing, we hope to continue creating opportunities for a new generation of business-oriented youth who will become entrepreneurs or employees of choice across the region," said Soraya Al Salti, senior vice president of MENA, Injaz Arabia. "The donations made by Boeing will help lay the groundwork for a long-term partnership that focuses on offering the best expertise and knowledge for our youth."
Each semester, business leaders send their employees to local schools and universities for one hour every week to share their professional experience, know-how, and success stories with Arab youth -- giving them practical training to succeed in the private sector. In six semesters, students progress from learning how to manage their own budgets to how to follow stocks in the newspaper. While setting up community projects, they develop skills in leadership, planning and teamwork.
As part of its Global Corporate Citizenship focus on education, Boeing promotes and invests in quality learning environments for children from birth through higher education to help them succeed in work and life.
Last year, Boeing's Global Corporate Citizenship provided nearly $58m to support community investments around the globe, including education programs, disaster relief, environmental efforts, arts and cultural awareness activities, and programs that improve health and human services.
