Joint efforts of 'Imdaad' and Dubai Municipality regarding environment preservation

H.E. Ahmed Butti Ahmed, Chief Executive of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation and the Director General of Dubai Customs as well as H.E Engineer Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality have attended the event that was held on the sidelines of the 'Middle East Waste Summit' which is scheduled to ends today Thursday, May 28th, 2009 at the Dubai Airport Expo Center.

Both Mr. Jamal Abdulla Lootah, Chief Executive Officer of Imdaad and Engineer Abdulla Mohammad Rafia, Assistant Director for Environmental & Public Health Services Sector at Dubai Municipality have signed the MoU.

The Memorandum of Understanding handles five vital aspects; creating a strategic unified platform to deal with waste issues in Dubai, cooperating and coordinating efforts between the two departments to enhance work competencies and create the best outcomes from the staff within each, exchanging expertise, integrating work procedures and specialties, in addition to accomplishing joint training efforts.

H.E. Ahmed Butti Ahmed stated that, "Waste problems whether solid, liquid or chemical constitute real dangers on public health and environment, thus, many developed and advanced countries seek to deal with this problem in order to enjoy a non polluted hygienic environment. Moreover, it is necessary to make use of waste and recycle it, by doing that, we serve both the community and the economy. Therefore, the UAE has given a great interest to such issues and has launched many initiatives that deal with the environment and waste disposal resulting from the different aspects of the growing development process."

The Chief Executive of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation added that dealing with waste problems and adopting recycling measures using advanced and modern techniques helps finding a variety of energy resources as well as preserving human's health and economic growth. He affirmed the vitality of the Middle East Waste Summit and Exhibition as it sheds light on the challenges encountered by many countries regarding Waste Management in addition to benefiting from the previous successful experiences.

Units and companies have been founded for the sake of such issue, Imdaad and Trakhees being two examples. These efforts have been successfully implemented and welcomed by the companies working within the Department."
