Mohammed Al-Naama, deputy CEO, QMDI said:
"QMDI's investment is aimed at ensuring rapid growth so that All-Energy becomes the clear global leader in the renewable energy exhibition marketplace within Europe." Al-Naama furthered: "Plans are in place to replicate the highly successful All-Energy brand globally and launch events in other continents, starting with All-Energy Melbourne which will be held 7-8 October this year."
This move compliments Qatar's growing global involvement in the alternative energy with major initiatives being lead by QSTP and through its global energy partners which include EADS, ExxonMobil, GE, Microsoft, Shell and Total; as well as research-led universities which form part of Qatar Foundation's education city, to become a world leader in education, research and specific technologies.
Dr Tidu Maini, executive chairman, Qatar Science & Technology Park presented a keynote address on 'Qatar's Investment in Research & Development for the Post-Carbon Era' during the in the ministerial and governmental plenary session of All-Energy conference.
During his speech he said: "Investment in alternative energy is a proactive move to help Qatar meet increasing demand for power over the coming decades. It will also help Qatar make more efficient use of its gas reserves and meet the international limits that have been set for CO2 emissions."
This year's All-Energy show has the largest-ever exhibition with 370+ exhibitors from 13 countries and attracted over 4500 visitors. At the All-Energy Conference over 250 conference speakers presented in the multiple stream programme covering all forms of renewable and sustainable energy, its uses and the challenges and opportunities facing the industry.
The show attracts visitor attendance from 29 countries as well as garnering the support from many leading industry associations. Through the extensive exhibition and conference programme, the many technical tours, numerous hosted receptions and business relationship building initiatives, All-Energy UK is deemed 'a giant industry networking event' where the global renewable and alternative energy sector converges.
Commenting on the show, Matthew Meredith, CEO, QMDI: "All Energy UK 2009 was a great success with the number of attendees by over 17% from the previous edition. Considering the current economic climate, this is a fantastic achievement and the confirmation that QMDI's acquisition of the event is a very promising venture."
The investment in All-Energy is a testament to QMDI active role as an international organiser of events and its expanding portfolio of knowledge-led products across different industry sectors.
Meredith explained that QMDI has proven experience with a dedicated team based in Qatar who have run and launched major exhibitions globally. By harnessing this expertise QMDI intends to bring events to Qatar as well export successful event products to other markets.
