"We are living in dynamic times which create very rich resource materials for students to critically analyze."
The first year students, business and Information Technology Higher Diploma, were on hand for the two-day event to present, discuss and explain their research findings to visitors and assessors as the Current Issues Forum provided one of the college's innovative methods for evaluating student work. Maureen Cocksedge, Business faculty, said that students are challenged by the fact that they must present up to the minute information about their topic to business professionals as well as peers from other colleges.
"They put in a strong effort to display and explain complex business, community, regional and global issues," she added.
The students presented a total of 53 research topics that provided detailed insight into the current financial crisis, and its impact on the Gulf region and the UAE in particular. A wide variety of areas were also discussed at the forum including UAE Corporate solutions to the Economic Crisis, Global Energy implications of the Economic Crisis, the Economic Crisis and the Decline of Capitalism among others.
