Its full proceeds will be going to the Dubai-based Foresight non-profit organization, helping their aim of finding a cure for blindness and improving the lives of people with sight loss in the UAE.

The machine, donated by Southwest Middle East LLC, is an unused 2009 model and will be sold in conjunction with Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers and Mohamed Abdulrahman Al Baharon on Monday the 1st of June at 12.00 pm.

During the three-day unreserved auction, more than 2300 construction, transport and agricultural equipment items and trucks will be sold to a large international crowd, bidding both online and on-site in Jebel Ali.

"We're a very small organization working hard to make a big difference to people's lives and we are extremely grateful for this unexpected and exciting support. The construction industry is a major part of Dubai's economy so we are delighted that the auction of this digger will bring benefits to people who are coping with sight loss in the UAE and help give hope to people all over the world who have hereditary eye disease."

said Katy Newitt, Chairwoman of Foresight.

"I have been told that the auction will be very exciting and fast paced" said Sally Prosser of Foresight. "As the auction is unreserved we have no idea how much this lot will go for. Typically lots are sold in 25 to 30 seconds but we hope that the bidding will go on a bit longer on this CAT Skid Steer to raise more funds to fight blindness."

About Foresight
Until recently untreatable, new progress in research means that cures for hereditary retinal diseases will be found. Our aim is to accelerate finding cures for retinal diseases such as Retinitis Pigmentosa. For some forms of retinal disease a cure will be found within 10 years and it is likely that children will be the first to benefit.

We also aim to improve the lives of people who are visually impaired and blind in the U.A.E. and run support groups for people with sight loss and mobility training with white sticks.

Foresight is a U.A.E-based non-profit organisation and a branch of Tamkeen. We are recognised and advised by Retina International (which coordinates major retinal research internationally), Moorfields Eye Hospital in London and Dubai, the Emirates Medical Association and the Emirates Association for the Blind.

Tamkeen (the Arabic word for enabling) is a non-profit organisation, initiated by HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum for the training of visually impaired citizens of working age. This unique training centre provides professional training courses that aren't found anywhere else in the U.A.E. All courses including transport are free of charge.

Tamkeen's objective is to empower vision impaired U.A.E nationals and residents with practical, vocational skills to enable them to enter the modern workplace to become economic and socially independent citizens.
