Singapore's annual shopping extravaganza, the eight-week GSS offers a range of shopping activities, events and discounts of up to 70% for products from designer apparel and jewellery to watches and electronics.

A key highlight sure to interest Middle East visitors is the festival's launch event, the Great Singapore Shopping Challenge. Teams from around the world will take part in a three-hour shopping competition for the best bargains. The teams with the most dollar savings are presented with a grand prize.

"Shopping is a favorite hobby for Middle East travellers, making The Great Singapore Sale a sure firehit and a fantastic reason to visit Asia's shopping capital. With great value promotions, exciting events and bargain shopping, the Great Singapore Sale is an exciting event that the whole family can take part in," said Jason Ong, Area Director, Middle East and Africa, Singapore Tourism Board.

For Middle East travellers looking for upmarket shopping, Singapore's famous Club 21 will be kicking off the Great Singapore Sale with a three-day designer bazaar at the unique Singapore Formula One Pit Building - home to the race teams' garages - offering major discounts of up to 80% on designer labels that include Giorgio Armani, D&G, Calvin Klein, and Marc by Marc Jacobs.

In addition to the great bargains and sales, tourists can enjoy further offers with the GSS Tourist Privilege Card to use at major retail and entertainment outlets across the city-state.

Middle East guests are also eligible for a gift with purchases of a Get Singapore product at participating outlets, in a single purchase on any Get Singapore brand, upon presenting the GSS Privilege Card. Get Singapore showcases leading Singaporean brands and Singapore-inspired products, helping visitors to secure the best gift and shopping ideas, and to allow them to bring home a slice of Uniquely Singapore with them.

Furthermore, for the first time Singapore Tourism Board, Charles & Keith and MasterCard have collaborated to produce a GSS limited edition bag in conjunction with the Great Singapore Sale 2009. Tourists and locals can redeem the GSS limited edition bag.

Middle East visitors using their Mastercard credit cards get an additional 10% off the sale price of Get Singapore items on sale at participating brands and up to 40% off the retail price of selected non-sale Get Singapore items at participating retailers.
