Consolidated Contractors establishes 'Said Khoury Dean of Construction Engineering'

Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC) has signed an agreement with the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT); establishing the 'Said Khoury Dean of Construction Engineering'.

The agreement was signed in Abu Dhabi by HE Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Chancellor of the Higher Colleges of Technology and Tawfic S. Khoury, Executive Vice President of CCC.

CCC's three year sponsorship will fund the 'Said Khoury Dean in Construction Engineering'. The Dean will be an international expert in construction technology and will work with other deans, department chairs, and engineering faculty from across the organization to review, design, and develop state-of-the-art programs that meet the needs of students and industry. The Dean will promote best practices, monitor and improve academic standards, evaluate student performance, facilitate faculty development, and develop relationships across the system and the community.

Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC) was established in 1952 when three young entrepreneurs, the late Kamel Abdul-Rahman, Hasib Sabbagh, and Said Khoury, joined forces to create one of the first Arab construction companies. CCC is the largest engineering and construction company in the Middle East with over 140,000 employees composed of over 60 nationalities. CCC is a leading diversified company carrying out construction, engineering, procurement, development and investment activities internationally with emphasis on the Middle East region.

"The funding of the Dean's position in Construction Engineering, named after our Chairman and President, Said Khoury, shows our support of HCT who provides the nation highly qualified UAE National construction graduates, said Tawfic S. Khoury, Director Executive Vice President of Consolidated Contractors Company.

"CCC sees HCT as a vital partner who will be able to provide their students opportunities to develop skills and careers in construction engineering. We are delighted to join the growing membership of the HCT Foundation-100 Club," he added.

As part of its 20th anniversary initiative the Higher Colleges of Technology established the HCT Foundation with a mandate to provide partnership opportunities for the corporate sector. In less than two years, the Foundation has added 23 companies who have made significant gifts to its 100 Club.

Dr Tayeb Kamali, Vice Chancellor of HCT, stated:
"We thank CCC who shares our committment to the development of UAE Nationals in the field of construction engineering and the development of world class construction engineering programs."
