Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry to host the Emirates - Iraq Business Forum

Under the patronage of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Member of the UAE Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) is hosting the Emirates-Iraq Business Forum, entitled "Partners in Development", which starts Sunday 31th of May 2009, in partnership with Dana Gas and Crescent Petroleum.

A number of high-profile officials will be representing Iraq at the forum, including Mr. Rafi' Al Eisawi, Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister, Iraqi Ministers of Industry, Transportation, and Electricity, and the President of the National Investment Authority, in addition to a number of officials and businessmen from the UAE and GCC countries. The development of Emirates-Iraq economic and trade relations and the current economic situations will be discussed at the forum.

Mr Al Eisawi will talk about foreign investments in Iraq and the role of GCC investors in the rebuilding of Iraq.

Mr Ahmed Mohammed Al Midfa', Chairman of the SCCI, will open the forum with a welcome speech, wherein he will talk about the strong relationship between the two countries and the many investment opportunities in Iraq, the UAE and the region.

Mr Hamid Dhiya Jafar, Chairman of Dana Gas and Crescent Petroleum, will talk about these companies' accomplishments in supporting and investing in the Iraq energy sector, and the importance of investment in the Iraqi energy sector during the current economic climate.

Investment opportunities and legislations in Iraq, particularly the energy sector, will be among the main topics discussed at the forum.
