HH Sheikh Ahmed to inaugurate Materials Handling and Logistics trade show

The Materials Handling Middle East exhibition, a major event for the regional logistics industry, gets underway on Sunday.

The event has received a huge boost with the confirmation that HH Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, president of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and chairman of Emirates Group, will open the show.

This year, the trade show has attracted a total of 178 international and local exhibitors from 27 countries, offering visitors from the Middle East, Africa, India, CIS, India and Pakistan regions a preview of the latest innovations and developments in the materials handling and logistics industry, and a chance to network with all the key players in the market.

Materials Handling Middle East is scheduled to take place from 31st May to 2nd June 2009 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The trade event will also feature a three-day industry specific conference. The conference will be in association with Supply Chain & Logistics Group (SCLG), and will provide industry insiders with a platform to share their ideas and knowledge.

The following key topics will be covered - 'Green warehousing', 'Technology in Supply Chain' and 'Security in Logistics'. Some of the key speakers for the conference will be from the companies such as JAFZA, SSI Schaefer and Motorola.

Mr. Mahmut Gazi Bilikozen, Senior Show Manager of Materials Handling Middle East said, "The global materials handling equipment market is projected to exceed Dhs382bn in sales by 2010."

Mr. Bilikozen added, "There is a growing trend in the industry towards complete integration of materials handling systems with procurement systems, manufacturing management systems and shipping operations. This is expected to bolster demand for automation equipment and software."
