Pfizer Pharmaceuticals participates in 'Scientific Day' at Al-Ahliyya Amman University

Within its continuous efforts to raise public awareness on smoking, its harmful effects, and the benefits of quitting, Pfizer Pharmaceuticals participated in the 'Scientific Day' at Al-Ahliyya Amman University, organized by the Faculty of Science and Pharmacy under the slogan "A cure for every disease".

Pfizer's participation in this event aims to raise awareness on the deadly habit through distributing awareness brochures and leaflets to students; determined to combat the smoking epidemic that affects individuals in particular and the community as a whole, since recent statistics point out that the number of smokers in Jordan is increasing and has now reached to 49.6% males and 5.7% females (according to the Jordan STEPS Survey 2007 Fact Sheet).

Commenting on this activity, Mr. Zaki Kasmo, Market Manager - Pfizer Jordan said:
"Our collaboration with this leading educational institution comes in line with our continuous efforts to support students by enriching their scientific knowledge about the damages caused by smoking and the advantages of quitting."

Mr. Kasmo reassured the need to work collectively to reach the largest possible number of smokers conferring the health benefits associated with quitting smoking.

It is worthy to note that Pfizer's Champix® is the first nicotine-free treatment and the latest new prescription drug approved for smoking cessation in nearly a decade.
