Barwa and Qatari Diar named Real Estate Partners for the 3rd Qatar Economic Forum

Short term stability leading to long term profitability for Qatar's real estate sector is the key message from Real Estate Partners, Barwa Real Estate Company (Barwa) and Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment Company, as the 3rd Qatar Economic Forum got underway at the Sheraton Doha Hotel and Resort on June 1st.

Over 1000 delegates representing business, government and civil society are expected to attend the Forum, held under the patronage of HH the Deputy Emir and Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, as Qatar continues to defy the worst global economic crisis in at least half a century.

"Thanks to the wisdom of our government led by His Highness The Emir, while much of the world is concerned with tackling the catastrophic effects of the global crisis hitting their economies, Qatar remains strong and continues to defy the effects of the financial crisis,"

says Mr. Khalid Al Delaimi President of Qatar Developments, Barwa Real Estate.

Organized jointly by the Qatar Ministry of Business and Trade and Al-Iktissad Wal Aamal Group, delegates attending the 3rd Qatar Economic Forum will be more concerned with different economic pressures. Dealing with the challenges arising from rapid growth and in line with Qatar's role as the region's leading financial and development center, investments and real estate opportunities in the state of Qatar will be the pressing issues on the packed agenda.

"In light of the many challenges and opportunities presented today by the increasingly global nature of the real estate sector, Barwa and Qatari Diar are well placed to meet and overcome each challenge, creating long term prosperity for our shareholders and the state of Qatar," advised Mr. Al Delaimi.

Commenting on Qatari Diar's participation, Eng. Mohamed Bin Ali Al-Hedfa, Qatari Diar's Deputy CEO for business development and CEO of Lusail Real Estate Development Company, said: "Qatar's real estate landscape remains positive and in addition we are seeing positive trends in many of our key markets internationally. We are focusing on fundamentals such as Qatari Diar's long term sustainable investments in growing markets and Barwa's creation of affordable housing. There will ensure stability and long term profitability in the sector over the coming years."

The best testimony for the company can be seen in the size and number of the development projects executed under the name of Qatari Diar and Barwa both locally and internationally. Qatari Diar's Lusail project in Qatar is one of the largest and most elaborate developments being undertaken around the world.

It will encompass not only new retail and residential opportunities, but a full array of community needs for approximately 200,000 people, complete with schools, hospitals, entertainment, and gathering centers. Lusail is a visionary development, essentially a new state-of-the-art city being built in Qatar.

Some of the other projects located in Qatar are: Barwa Al Baraha, Barwa Doha, Barwa City, Barwa Commercial Avenue, Barwa Al Khor, and Barwa Financial District. While Qatari Diar and Barwa's international projects exist in numerous countries worldwide. The strategy of Qatari Diar and Barwa is represented separately through projects such as, Chelsea Barracks (UK), The Shard (UK), Somerset Al Fateh (Bahrain), Somerset Corniche (Doha) and Ajman Towers (UAE), numerous projects in Egypt, Istanbul Seagate (Turkey) and also a project in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
