Dubai Municipality campaign to increase pet owner awareness

The Veterinary Services Section of Dubai Municipality has organized a campaign throughout the emirate of Dubai to raise awareness of the laws for pet owners.
Eng. Hashim Al Awadhi, Head of Veterinary Services Section said, "The goal of this campaign is to educate pet owners about local laws such as where they must register and vaccinate their animals against diseases and purchasing animals or birds from premises approved by Dubai Municipality, with health certificate and vaccination record, and CITES certificate in case that animal was among the endangered species."
He also noted that the first phase of the campaign was in Jumeirah area, where pet owners were educated on the law through the distribution of leaflets and brochures, which included the local laws to be complied by the animal owners and how to look after them and Dubai's special laws in protecting animals from cruelty.
The campaign was welcomed by pet owners as it was meant for making them aware of the laws of animal welfare and the list of offences that will be implemented by the Veterinary Services Section after the end of the campaign.
Al Awadhi pointed out that the local laws, the animal welfare laws and the list of offences will be published in local newspapers, to be circulated to all animal lovers in Dubai.
