Fourth GVF Oil and Gas Communications series conference in Abu Dhabi to feature thirty-plus participating companies
- United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, June 03 - 2009 at 13:12
- PRESS RELEASE
The 4th Annual Oil and Gas Communications Mena (O&GCMena4) conference, entitled: 'Wireless, Satellite and Everything in Between' is to be held at the InterContinental Hotel, Abu Dhabi, over 9th and 10th June 2009, and will feature the participation of 30+ companies from the oil and gas sector and the communications solutions vendor community.
O&GCMena4 will take place as the world economy witnesses a resurgence in the price of crude oil set against a backdrop of the early signs of a global economic upswing.
Martin Jarrold, GVF Chief of International Programme Development, and O&GCMena4 Chairman, said:
"With the price of a barrel of crude around $66, we are far from witnessing a return to the accelerated oil price inflation which prevailed at the time of our last Oil & Gas Communications event in the Mena region. But equally we have hopefully left behind an oil price environment with a barrel hovering around the $33 mark which is within recent memory. Energy company revenues are an important factor in the framing of the kinds of discussion which will take place during this Conference."
As at 1st June the participating companies include: Access Partnership - Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Operations (ADCO) - Abu Dhabi Gas Industries (GASCO) - Abu Dhabi Gas Liquification (ADGAS) - Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company (ADMA-OPCO) - Aero-Gate - Alkan Telecom - Arabsat - Caprock Communications - Detecon Al Saudia - Dolphin Energy - ESNAAD - Etisalat - Gulf of Mexico Broadband Special Interest Group - GVF - Hermes Datacomms - Hughes Network Systems - Intelsat - Iridium Satellite - MenaNets - National Drilling Company (NDC) - ND Satcom - Saudi Aramco - Schlumberger - Thuraya - Total ABK - Uplogix - Viasat - Vizada - Yahsat.
The Oil & Gas Communications Mena Conference is sponsored by the conference series lead sponsor Schlumberger, and also by Yahsat, Hughes, and Thuraya.
The conference is dedicated to the Middle East and North Africa oil & gas patch, and follows on three successful conferences for the region which were held in Cairo in 2006, 2007, and 2008.
It will deliver networking opportunities for, and promote dialogue between, senior executives from demand (oil & gas sector end-user) and supply (communications solution vendor) expert practitioners, whilst characterising and defining the applications and communications imperatives of the energy market vertical.
Added Martin Jarrold, "Whilst it is true of these imperatives that, in relative terms, communications solutions represent a small fraction of energy companies' total CAPEX and OPEX, well-managed ICT networks can play a disproportionately great role in reducing expenditures in drilling, production, exploration, and in every other area of operations, and all across the global oil & gas patch."
