Drydocks World - Dubai named Best Shipyard for the 3rd successive year

H.E. Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Chairman of Dubai World, has won the first-ever Supply Chain and Transport Awards (SCATA) Hall of Fame Award in recognition of his 'valued contribution to the growth of the industry' in the Middle East region.

Drydocks World - Dubai, the flagship ship repair, conversion and building yard of Drydocks World, won Best Shipyard of the Year at the same event for the third successive year.

Both awards were presented during a ceremony attended by more than 250 industry professionals from across the region. H.E Bin Sulayem's award was accepted on his behalf by Farid Mohammed Ahmed, Secretary General of Dubai World.

Recognising a leading personality within the Middle East logistics industry, the Hall of Fame Award praised H.E. Bin Sulayem for his continued 'strong and valued contribution to the industry's growth over the years,' as well as his 'efforts to raise the benchmark for regional and global excellence.'

Drydocks World - Dubai won the Best Shipyard of the Year for its top performance, safety, quality and environmental practices, focus on technical innovations as well as its contribution to the region's reputation as a centre of maritime excellence.

Mr. Laksmi Janarthanan, Divisional Manager - Commercial, received the award on behalf of Mr. Nawal Saigal, Managing Director of Drydocks World - Dubai.

SCATA, launched in 2007 by ITP Business, a leading publisher of transportation magazines, has become one of the premier industry recognition events focused on the Middle East. SCATA awards are given in 16 categories, covering the logistics, sea freight and air cargo sectors.
