The objective of this year's annual event is to equip and empower executives to manage their organizations through the current economic crisis in order to emerge stronger, more agile, and ready to compete in a new economic environment.

The summit is organized by US-based Palladium Group Inc., a specialist in systems and processes to improve the execution of business strategy and the global leader in helping organizations execute their strategies by making better decisions. It is the body responsible for the Balanced Score Card strategic planning and management system that is used extensively in business and industry, government, and nonprofit organizations worldwide. Strategy management is a core competency of the Ministry of Works, which uses the Balanced Scorecard as an indispensible tool to align its business activities with its vision and strategy, as well as to improve internal and external communications, and monitor performance against goals.

Raja Yousif Al Zayani, Chief of Strategic Planning, said:
"A high level of strategic planning goes into our work at the Ministry and the benefits of strategy management support our role in our efforts to create a world-class urban infrastructure to benefit all in Bahrain, in accordance with the goals of the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030."

"This summit is a key event for everyone involved in best practices strategy management with knowledge sharing among delegates providing invaluable insight which we will bring home and apply to our ongoing work in our ever-changing economic and operating environment," Al Zayani added.

Keynote Speakers for this year's summit are Dr David Norton, Founder, Palladium, Dr Robert Kaplan, Harvard Business School; and Martin Wolf, CBE, Chief Economics Commentator, Financial Times.

The Ministry of Works delegation will attend a number of summit sessions covering various aspects of strategy management. Topics at this year's summit include linking risk and strategy management, connecting theory to practice, establishing a strategic framework to maximize public sector performance, innovating a future vision to navigate through the crisis, taking control of the management system, how the world economy has changed, strengthening the management system and developing strategy, strategy mapping, aligning an organization and its people to strategy and driving execution through aligning leadership incentives to strategy. A number of group exercises will allow participants to translate theory into action.

The 2009 Palladium Hall of Fame for Executing Strategy Awards Ceremony is also a key part of the summit and the Ministry is a contender for this year's award, which if it is successful will result in its induction into Palladium Group's Balanced Scorecard 'Hall of Fame'.
