Showcased at the three-day fair were top quality advanced materials handling, logistics and freight handling equipment and machinery and tools for use in warehousing and manufacturing industries.

"In an economic downturn when economic budgets limit marketing spend, participating in a trade exhibition still remains a top choice for most of the large, medium and even small sized companies in order to maintain their standing in front of customers - and we as a successful exhibition organizer provide exhibitors with a platform to do just that,"

said Ms. Brehl in a statement to exhibitors.

One of the most impressive at the Materials Handling show was the robotic arm displayed at the Logsquare stand. Logsquare, is a tie-up with Gebhardt Group from Germany which displayed conveyor transportation and auto storage equipment for cartons and pallets.

"We have received inquiries from as far afield as Egypt, Lebanon and Saudi Arabia and a number of these inquiries are serious and we will be following them up these business leads generated during the trade fair at the end of the show."

At the Made in Germany pavilion at Materials Handling Middle East Schaefer showed off their A-Frame automated picking machine. Mr. Carsten Spiegelberg, Director of Sales for Systems and Automation of Schaefer said the versatile machine could be used for sorting different products in an assembly line and tracking each one depending on the order electronically.

"This machine is ideal for packaged items in the pharmaceutical, cosmetics, tobacco industries and stationeries. It can store 30 modules and up to 2,000 different product lines."

He added that the machine also uses a manual picking system by using coloured light to sort out the orders.
