  • PRESS RELEASE

Abu Dhabi Media Company, one of the fastest growing, multi-platform, media organisations in the region, unveiled the future of commercial UAE radio with the launch of Star FM; a unique listening experience designed exclusively for young Arabs who embrace the local fusion of Arabic and Western music.

According to the team behind Star FM, the station will speak the language of the 24/7 music generation who can tune into a blend of non-stop hits, Star Chat celebrity interviews and news, sports and business.

A fast-paced programming line-up features IMIX, a one-hour, drive time music mix of back-to-back Arabic and English hits that will also appeal to Western listeners.

Abdulrahman Awadh Al Harthi, Director of Abu Dhabi Radio Network said, "Star FM will inject a new energy into the nation's airwaves. Our listeners are the young Arabs who live and embrace the fusion of Arab and Western cultures. Our research shows that 63% of this audience enjoys listening to both Arabic and Western music. Star FM is a contemporary, UAE-inspired format that will create a new dynamism into popular local radio. By launching Star FM, Abu Dhabi Radio Network now has a station for every kind of listener."

Abu Dhabi Media Company's Executive Director - Broadcast, Karim Sarkis, believes that radio has significant potential to attract a new generation of listeners and provide more focused, brand-driven commercial opportunities.

He added, "Star FM's blend of non-stop music and less chat means the advertising slots will carry a desirable premium for advertisers as their products and services can reach a targeted, much sought after audience. We expect the station to be a wake-up call for local radio that creates a new brand of quality content for the digitally connected listener."

H.E. Mohamed Khalaf Al-Mazrouei, Abu Dhabi Media Company's Chairman highlights that expanding the radio network is part of the company's growth strategy as a multi-platform media leader, "Abu Dhabi Media Company's radio stations are the most listened to in the UAE and Star FM is a valuable, culturally-attuned addition to our portfolio of leading media brands."

"This launch supports the capital's goal to become the media hub of the region and Abu Dhabi's ambition to be a global player in the media industry. Our radio network has been broadcasting quality content for more than forty years and Star FM means we can reach younger, broader audiences and position the emirate as a vibrant centre of culture that inspires the Arab world,"
Al-Mazrouei added.
