Sharjah Archaeology Museum hosted the Healthy Heart Campaign which was organized by the Ministry of Health under the title "Know Your Risk" as part of the Ministry of Health 2008-2009 goals.
The Heart Campaign introduced the Sharjah Museums Department's staff to the modifiable risk factors that affects the heart which are high blood cholesterol, high glucose level, smoking, overweight/obesity, lake of exercise and diet.
The Ministry of Health talked about high blood pressure and it is called "A Silent Killer".
This heart disease is one of the most dangerous diseases because it has no visible symptoms but yet damages the heart and arteries. They also have been introduced to the non modifiable risk factors which are age, family history and gender.
To prevent or lower the heart dieses risks, the SMD staff should eat healthy food such as fruits and vegetables. They also need to get active, use less salt, quit smoking and maintain a healthy weight.
More than 50 SMD employees raised their awareness through this campaign by doing heart health exam like body max index (BMI), measuring the blood pressure, cholesterol and blood glucose.
The exam helped the employees to recognize the importance of having regular checkups because it keeps them updated about their health. Sharjah Museums Department's main objective is to increase the health awareness among the citizens and residents of the UAE by keeping updated with the preventable or treatable diseases.
