Sony Ericsson sponsors the Fourth Top of the Dune Challenge by Dubai4x4.com

The international brand known for its 'fun-phone' image, Sony Ericsson, brought in more excitement with the Fourth Sony Ericsson Top of the Dune Challenge organized by Dubai4x4.com.

Each year, this event is held for the extreme off-roaders and those who wish to test their resourcefulness while dune bashing.

This year, The winners were awarded trophies & Sony Ericsson products at the end of the event and all participants received a special prize.

Every competitor for the Fourth Sony Ericsson Top of the Dune Challenge was required to visit a set of waypoints in the shortest time, running the shortest distance.

Each waypoint was marked with a Sony Ericsson flag and was named after one of the Sony Ericsson mobile phones. The one with the least odometer reading and the best timing was declared the winner. Each contender brought his own car or participated as a passenger in a 4x4. They were also required to have a GPS, a digital camera or a camera phone.

The event was open to all who could drive up a dune. Last year, the event was held on 25th April 2008, with 30 challengers fighting heat, sun, soft sand and big dunes.

It was a very exciting and challenging event as for the winners.

Winner for the 3rd year in a row: ROBBIE

This year there was a special category for extreme off-roaders fastest time, which was won by Nima.

DUBAI4X4 is an online off-road club established on 2003 have almost 5000 members who share they passion in off-roading and dune bashing.
