Kuwait April sales up on March

The National Bank of Kuwait (NBK) has said in a report that real estate transactions in April had amounted to KD96.7m, up 8% on March. The value of sales in the commercial sector and apartments had surged by 51% and 13% respectively, while residential sales had dropped by 8%, NBK noted.

However, the report said that real estate sales had fallen significantly so far in 2009, with the average value of sales during the first four months 56% lower than the same period last year.

The number of transactions was also 54% lower.

Most of the decline in sales during the period occurred in residential property with their sales values and transactions down by 62% and 63%, respectively, it said.
