How LION works
The Live International Otolaryngology Network (LION) established a Global Network which came to fruition in 2006 in collaboration with EAONO, European Association of Neuro-Oncology. LION is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting ongoing medical education in otaryngology (ENT) by organizing live broadcasting via ideoconference
rooms. In this way, LION is supporting high quality medical and surgical procedures without the need for surgeons to travel any great distances.

Otayrngology is a branch of medicine that specializes in the treatment of ear, nose and throat diseases/disorders. A commonly used term for this is ENT (ear, nose and throat).

LION gives viewers the chance to choose between two channels of simultaneous live surgery, depending on their ontological (ENT) interests.

The videoconferencing system assists live interaction discussion between operating surgeons and delegates (surgeons primarily) in various conference rooms. However, only participating medical centers are the sites for these live broadcasts. This choice is also available for the
live-streaming through the LION website.
