Manara Developments appoints main contractor for reclamation works of Wahat Al Muharraq project

Manara Developments B.S.C. (c), a Bahrain-based Real Estate Development Company established by Al Salam Bank Bahrain and strategic investors from around the GCC, has agreed a $4m reclamation works contract with international contractor Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Company, officially appointing them to carry out the reclamation works on the Wahat Al Muharraq project in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The contract involves hydraulic reclamation of the 170,000 square meter project being developed in the progressive Muharraq waterfront area, and will create a vibrant residential masterplan offering retail facilities as well as civic amenities in addition to residential units in order to ensure a fully integrated and lifestyle-focused community.

Dr. Hasan Al-Bastaki, Manara's Managing Director, commented on the agreement, "We are pleased with the selection of Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company as the main contractor for reclamation works on the Wahat Al Muharraq project. The commencement of these works with such a reputable contractor shows Manara's commitment to developing this dynamic project which is expected to deliver a quality lifestyle address for residents from all walks of life."

"Works on the project is already underway, and the reclamation works are expected to be completed in approximately three months,"
continued Dr. Al-Bastaki.

And with regards to the outline of the project, it was stated by Dr. Al Bastaki, "We are still at the stage of preparation of the draft master plan and the details of the project will be announced soon after obtaining the consent of the relevant authorities."

Mr. John T. O'Brien, Vice President & Middle East Division Manager of Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company commented on the agreement, "We are very excited about beginning the reclamation works on this project, and believe that we are well placed to meet all expectations on this phase. We are also delighted to be working with Manara Developments towards realizing this community-centric project."
