The workshop comes to bridge present gaps between demand and supply in the pharmaceutical industry. Once such gaps are identified, and the supply of the packaging and printing companies respond well to the demands of the pharmaceutical industry, marketing and sales can go beyond usual boundaries and extend globally. Coinciding with the workshop was an exhibition whereby 5 local packaging and printing companies exhibited their products and solutions, which provided a good platform for networking and linkages between the two sectors.
The packaging sector has been a major receiver of USAID Economic Development Program (SABEQ) attention in a bid to utilize Jordanian talent, innovation and inspiration to the benefit of enhanced marketing performance. The sector has been actively introduced to a series of good packaging and printing practices to enable its companies pass international GMP audits applied on printing companies and to provide the Jordanian market with its products.
"This workshop is expected to train participants on good documentation system, enable them to pass GMP audits related to packaging and printing, and will enhance traceability and decrease number of rejected cartoons and leaflets, accordingly decrease losses related to printing errors,"
said Hanan Sboul, Secretary General, JAPM.
The linkage that will be created between pharmaceutical and the packaging and printing businesses, will establish firm platforms of cooperation to the benefit of all stakeholders.
In his opening speech Mr Laith Al Qasem, Chief of Party, USAID Economic Development Program SABEQ delivered on his behalf by Ms Khitam Farah, Product Quality and Packaging Technical Lead, he highlighted the importance of this linkage identifying it as a powerful engine for economic growth, which will allow involved sectors dismantle all obstacles that may face them.

By both supporting improvements in the business environment and providing assistance to expand innovation and productivity in Jordanian businesses, it supports the main objective of building up the private sector as a powerful engine of economic growth.
