The technology, which will be implemented by the end of 09, is the only reservation system built completely on the latest generation IT and development technologies; and is designed to deliver flexibility and scalability to the airline.
The upgrade will enable Jazeera to offer passengers a 'shopping cart' function online: seamlessly integrating car hire, hotels, insurance and other online products into the booking process, which are then merged and sent to passengers as a single itinerary.
Thanks to New Skies' 'Super PNR' which captures each individual passenger's sales and booking information, customers will benefit from an even greater level of self-service mechanisms for cancelling or changing their booking. The system will additionally be capable of assessing and supporting self service requests (SSRs), and will provide a greater range of services for group travel bookings.
Moreover, the New Skies Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) platform enables Jazeera to readily adapt to changing business conditions and seize emerging opportunities in the region, by adding new technologies and high-value customer services in the future.
Jazeera Airways Chairman and CEO, Marwan Boodai commented;
"With plans for significant future business growth through the ongoing expansion of our network and increased fleet size; the reservation and distribution system at the core of our operations must be capable of providing an efficient and uninterrupted service to customers, while enabling us to integrate a wider range of services from third party suppliers for added convenience to passengers."
"The Navitaire New Skies 3.0 system is the best fit for our business and will provide us with a sustainable base for consolidating and growing our operations." Boodai added.
The system will additionally enable the delivery of market insights into individual customers, which will serve as a driver to bolster the airline's range- and level- of services.
"Jazeera has quickly become a regional leader and continues to rapidly expand in the Middle East, one of the highest growth areas in global aviation," said John Dabkowski, Navitaire managing director. "New Skies supports Jazeera's future business plans and profitability goals with integrated revenue generating ancillary sales capabilities, delivered via New Skies' travel commerce solution."
Jazeera Airways currently operates a fleet of nine new Airbus A320s with one more brand new A320s scheduled to be delivered this coming June 09. Each aircraft is fitted with the airline's signature leather seating, while the Jazeera Plus (J+) cabin offers business travelers the highest standards of comfort, relaxation and a range of in-flight amenities. The airline flies to destinations in the Middle East, North Africa, Europe, Iran, and the Indian subcontinent.
