Mohammed Fadil Al Hamli, President of the UAE Disabled Sports Federation and Maryam Bin Fahad, Executive Director, Dubai Press Club, signed the agreement in the presence of representatives from both the organizations.

As per the agreement, the two sides will work together in hosting a variety of programs at the Press Club with the participation of media organizations. The Press Club will also help ensure better media visibility for the issues of handicapped people at the local, regional and international levels.

Mohammed Al Hamli said he was thankful to the Press Club for the initiative and pointed out it was the first of its kind in the history of the federation.

"This agreement underlines how aware and concerned the Press Club is about the needs of various segments of the society, especially the handicapped. It will definitely raise the levels of awareness about the needs and requirements of the handicapped in the society," he added.

Maryam Bin Fahad said she was delighted at the cooperation with the Federation, pointing out the dynamic humanitarian role it is playing in the country. "In fact; this agreement is part of widening the scope of the Press Club's relations with various local and regional organizations. This agreement will go a long way in bettering the plight of the handicapped, whose issues and problems deserve to be treated with much more concern and importance that is done presently," she added.

The agreement also foresees the possibility of training handicapped people in journalism and media professions as well as in public relations in order to maximize their potential to communicate with wider sections of the community. Both sides are expected to soon chalk out a detailed strategy to translate the spirit of the agreement into concrete work.
