Delta Airlines celebrates one year anniversary of non-stop service between Amman and New York

Since its Launch on June 6, 2008, Delta Airlines is the only US carrier to operate direct flights between Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) and JFK, in which it offers convenient connections through its extensive international and domestic hub network.

Commenting on the anniversary, Mr. Curtis Grad, Chief Executive Officer at Airport International Group said

"We are delighted to celebrate Delta's first anniversary to QAIA as the Amman-New York route represents a major opportunity for the region as a whole and, since its inception, the new service has significantly boosted tourism, business and leisure travel between the two countries."

Mr. Grad added "On Behalf of AIG, I would like to extend our congratulations to Delta Airlines and wish them continued success at Queen Alia International Airport. In the past 12 months, QAIA has witnessed tremendous growth in new airline services and Delta was at the forefront of this trend."

On his part, Manoj Kuriakose, Delta's commercial manager for the Middle East said "We are extremely pleased with the performance of the Amman to New York flight which has enplaned 55,000 passengers over the last year,"

"Our service offers our passengers with more than 40 convenient connections at our New York-JFK hub, of which the most popular destinations have included Washington D.C., Los Angeles, San Francisco and Atlanta." Manoj Kuriakose added.
Delta operates the service between Amman and New York using a Boeing 767-300ER aircraft seating up to 215 passengers; 34 in business class and 181 in economy.

The rehabilitation and expansion works at QAIA are well underway with the new passenger terminal extending over 85,000 square meters. AIG, under the terms of a 25-year concession agreement with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, is responsible for the operation of the airport, the rehabilitation of existing facilities and the construction of the new terminal.

AIG is a Jordanian company with private shareholding by Abu Dhabi Investment Company (UAE), Noor Financial Investment Company (Kuwait), Edgo Group (Jordan), Joannou & Paraskevaides (Overseas) Limited (Cyprus), J&P-Avax (Greece) and Aéroports de Paris Management (France).
