- PRESS RELEASE
World famous fashion designer Domenico Vacca (DV), whose work has been described by the Italian media as 'the Ferrari of clothing' personally came to Doha to open his first flagship boutique at The Pearl-Qatar today
Asked why he selected The Pearl-Qatar to open his first shop in the region, Mr. Vacca said, "I was completely blown away with this ambitious and visionary project. It is a city on a man-made island. But I also liked the humanistic aspect of it. I'm very impressed with the vision of United Development Company (owner and developer of The Pearl-Qatar) for this project which is very interesting for the Middle East and Qatar. And I am very excited to be in Qatar and The Pearl- Qatar."
"We believe Qatar has a unique visionary stand point in the way that the nation is growing. It is very exciting to see this growth, and the wealth, and solid strength of Qatar's economy - all these elements make it the 'next place' to come to in the Middle East," Mr. Vacca said that he especially liked The Pearl-Qatar's 'humanistic aspect' which includes a genuine Italian Riviera sense of style, but which also combines a strong European influence with Arabian ambiance.
"The Pearl-Qatar has all these elements in the right balance," said Mr. Vacca, "and it is truly the best time to come here, and The Pearl-Qatar is the best place to enter the Middle East."
Discussing his latest flagship shop at The Pearl-Qatar, Mr. Vacca said that DV is unique in that it is one of the very few fashion companies that not only produces a high quality luxury product that is hand-crafted but also offers a whole product range from ready-to-wear collections, couture gowns, jewelry, accessories, crocodile handbags for women, all of which will be coming to Doha.
Mr. Vacca said, "We have custom- made programmes to build your own personal wardrobe, with measurements to fit, and style that personally suit your tastes. We've dressed top film directors, and provided periodic film costumes, for many contemporary films. We've just been working with actor Mickey Rourke, on his latest film '11 Minutes,' which is adapted from a novel by writer Paulo Coehlo. We've also been working with actor Forest Whitaker, and designing the clothing for a film with Diane Keaton and Harrison Ford."
"We've also provide dresses for Scarlett Johansson, Evana Trump, and Queen Latifa, to name a few. Our collections are very luxurious, but at the same time, they have strong sexy style, and very chic," he added.
Speaking specifically about his new shop, Mr. Vacca said, the shop at The Pearl-Qatar will be different from all other outlets in the world, due to its unique design.
It's a New Age design, with marble floors, and hand-crafted Italian furniture, and of course the famous baby blue leather, which has become the signature of DV. The flagship DV shop is part of the portfolio of the United Fashion Company (UFC), a subsidiary division of the United Development Company (UDC), which UDC operates as a joint-venture.
