Alexandria City Centre supports World No Tobacco Day

Alexandria City Centre strengthened its drive against smoking by recognising the World No Tobacco Day once again with an awareness campaign held at the mall on Sunday May 31st.

The City Centre tied up with local charitable organisation Resala who educated visitors on the dangers of using tobacco and what they can do to quit the habit. Along with flyers, the mall distributed chewing gum that can help to fight the addiction.

This internationally recognised day also marked a year since Alexandria City Centre went smoke-free to protect its visitors from the harmful effects of second-hand tobacco smoke.

Omar Gaafar, General Manager of Alexandria City Centre said, "Successfully enforcing anti-smoking campaigns is a particular challenge for Egypt since smoking shisha is so popular here. However we have been working hard to ensure the mall remains smoke free other than the designated smoking zones and we have made considerable progress."

"It was our intention to reach out to our visitors, particularly the youngsters, with our latest initiative - to educate them on just how dangerous tobacco is to their health. We hope that this awareness has helped them from lighting up," he concluded.
