$1bn medical city development by Apex Medical Group officially named International Medical City

The President of the Apex Medical Group (AMG), Dr. Abdullah Al Joaib is pleased to announce that his landmark integrated medical tourism project of the medical city (TMC) in Salalah, Oman has been officially named as the "International Medical City" (IMC).
Commenting on the announcement of the official name Dr. Abdulla Al Joaib, the founder and President of AMG, said that everyone involved in the project agreed that "The "International Medical City (IMC)" is an appropriate reflection of both the global standard of medical excellence, and the holistic solution that the IMC will offer in terms of tertiary healthcare, organ transplantation, diagnostic and wellbeing needs of its patients."
This 800,000sqm development is located just east of Salalah overlooking the serene waters of the Arabian Peninsula. The IMC facilities will include a 530-bed multispecialty tertiary care hospital, a modern organ transplant center of excellence, a state of the art diagnostic center, healthcare resort, wellness center, luxury hotel and a purpose built research and development complex. This multi-phased development is scheduled to commence construction by the end of 2012.
The IMC is envisioned as a medical utopia, offering expert services that patients from the GCC usually have to travel as far as Europe and the U.S for, in a picturesque environment conducive to healing and wellness. This major healthcare infrastructure development project will offer excellent employment opportunities to Omani nationals and is set to position Oman as a centre for medical tourism and a benchmark of medical excellence around the MENA region.
